Outfit #45: Stripes and Fur
Dress: H&M (Thrifted) // Faux Fur Vest: Thrifted // Boots: Litas by Jeffrey Campbell // Hat: H&M // Necklace: Somewhere in Australia // Big Ring: H&M // Owl Ring: eBay
I usually don't feel comfortable in bodycon dresses due to my outrageously large hips/butt (which is why I wear a lot of fit and flare), but this one is thick enough that it doesn't make me feel weird or skimpy. It's so comfortable and cozy.
This vest is my obsession. It belonged to my old roommate Becki - we found it together at the Goodwill Bins. She never wore it, so she gifted it to me because I was stealing it from her all the time anyway. It's actually inside out in these photos - the "proper" side has buckskin on it - it's very "Mori girl".
Don't mind my chipped nails. I get the monthly Julep nails box and while I love their colors, the polish literally chips off in a day. It's VERY frustrating. I just painted my nails yesterday!
My dear friend Megan is getting a tattoo on Sunday (her first one!), so I am excited to go watch her get it. It's a key on her side. She's a brave woman for getting her first tattoo on her ribs! My side tattoo hurt so much that I still have about four hours left on it, because I've been too pussy to go in and get more done on it. Eeek.
I AM itching for new ink, though. I wish I wasn't always so broke >.< I want to get started on my sleeve, or get the cameos on the top of my feet (one of them will be of Sushi - my dog!)

Outfit #44: Moody Pink
I bought this sweater at a thrift store in Idaho when I was about 16. It's a super oversized granny sweater and I've never really stopped loving it. I find it interesting how some aspects of my style have never really changed - I've always loved dusky pinks and gothic undertones. I go through vintage/earthy phases, but I always come back to moodiness. Living in dark, rainy, cold Seattle also doesn't help this.
There's not a whole lot going on in my life lately. Working full time kind of puts a damper on most of my other billion projects, so at night when I get home I mostly just putz around the house and do weird little projects. Last night I used an old thrift store canvas to make some new art for above the bed with Daniel. Yes, it's a Game of Thrones quote. I'll have a tutorial for you guys coming soon!
I've felt a little stagnant in life lately - but I begin to feel this way if something doesn't happen for a week. Admittedly, I am a little high strung. Basically, I've been waiting on some super huge, life changing news for nearly a year now - a few months ago I got a glimpse into this new career/life path, but since then I have heard NOTHING.
In other news, in conjunction with my article from a few weeks ago about how Cosplay Is Not a Permission Slip, I wrote a follow up piece for iFanboy about How to Behave Like a Human Being at Conventions. This is a topic I obviously feel strongly about, which leads me to a new point: If you have experienced any sort of sexual harassment at a convention, whether in costume or not, I'd love to hear about it. I'm working on launching a website where people can share their stories and we can spread awareness of the horrible behavior people have to deal with at conventions. You can send me an email with the "contact" button above.
Have a lovely Thursday, Unicorns!

Washington now has gay marriage and legalized marijuana. I want to smoke a joint with my state, and then marry it (since WA is OBVIOUSLY a sexy lady).
Guns and whiskey, ya'll. 'MERICA, FUCK YEAH.

Outfit #42: Happy Election Day!
Dress: Nordstrom's // Jacket: Thrifted // Boots: Thrifted // Purse: H&M // Necklace c/o RUBY // Rings: eBay
Happy election day, unicorns! If you're in the US, make SURE to get out there and vote. This is an important one - women's issues are at the forefront of everyone's minds, and you know we'd rather go forward than elect someone who will put us 30 years in the past - right?
This dress is actually a party dress I bought YEAAARS ago for my 19th birthday party. It has giant poofy sleeves. But it's perfect to dress down with a long jacket, thus it comes out in the winter time. I also love running my hands over the shiny fabric. PET PET PET.
D&D is canceled tonight so everyone can watch election coverage, so Dan and I are going to turn on streaming news and paint a canvas I picked up at the Goodwill bins. We are just going to throw paint at it, then I'm putting vinyl letters on it to say "The Night is Dark and Full of Terrors". After it dries, it's going above the bed. I'll make sure to photograph the process for you guys.
I started the WoW trial last night, and WOW (the expression, not the game... well also the game, but one is one and one is the other. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING). It's changed SO MUCH since I "got clean" back in college - it's so intuitive and streamlined now! I'm playing a Blood Elf Warrior named Ahlmond. TANKS 4 LYFE, YO. The trial is free until 20 - then I need to decide if I want to sign up. It's a slippery slope...
If you like interesting blogs (obviously you do, you're reading mine, HAR HAR HAR), you should check out my friend Josie's blog. She's a very fascinating, intelligent woman who blogs about being a stripper and her struggle with her mother having Cancer. She has a way with words that leaves you riveted to the screen. Check it out here.
And finally, the video of Liz doing a galaxy look on me for our makeup channel, OneUpMakeup, is finally live! I promise I don't always mouth breathe that much - Mallory has cats and I am terribly allergic, so I was in the throes of a miserable allergy attack. But the look is AMAZING! I AM SPACE INCARNATE.

Outfit #41: I Vill Drink Yer Blawd
I like wearing tie dye because I can spill as much coffee on myself as I want and it's not noticeable. The clumsy girl's fashion best friend, HOORAH! But isn't this dress incredible? I died when I saw it online, but when I opened the package from Crash and Burn Apparel I let out an audible "squee". It's also ridiculously comfortable.
Also obsessed with my new boots, courtesy of Naughty Monkey. However, they are an absolute terror against my tights because I sit in awkward positions and thus keep ripping up my tights with the spikes on the back. OH WELL, FASHION IS PAIN.
This weekend I did a whole lot of productive things - PSHAW. I went antiquing with my dear friend Megan, painted some IKEA shelves I got on Craigslist (and accidentally made myself and Daniel high on spray paint fumes), and managed to drop a shelf on my head as I was attempting to move a giant shelf by myself. Oops.
I've been on an absolute apartment overhaul path lately - I can't stop fixing things up! I keep buying cheap furniture on craigslist and I have moved almost all of the furniture around. I'm also painting EVERYTHING. I may be going slightly dotty - with all the plans I have for the apartment I probably won't be finished until sometime next spring. My reasoning is that Dan and I are staying put until we can afford a house (to rent, not to buy, unless I somehow come into some money) on Capitol Hill again. Until then, we will nest in our tiny two bedroom, and he will tolerate me dropping shelves on my head and ranting about interior design for three days straight.
I've actually found the most challenging thing is trying to display my toys and still make the apartment look "designy". I've started phasing out all of my small toys - Burger King Star Wars and the like - and I'm slowly but surely investing in larger figures and statues. I think they are easier to display and don't look as cheap, or like I'm living in a 12 year old boy's oversized bedroom.
Last night we filmed three new videos for One Up Makeup - so there's four in the pipeline for you guys! I just love working with those fantastic women - we always have such a great time making the videos. I love that we can conglomerate our love of makeup AND geekiness into one happy bundle.
How did you enjoy your weekends, unicorns?
