My Sparkly Life in Instagram: NYCC 2013

Bathroom selfies right before a redeye flight, on which I did not sleep a wink.

Immediately upon reaching our hotel, we had to take weird pictures of the Fangasm crew. It's just how these things work. // Reunited with my beautiful, perfect, wonderful bff Kristin. <3 // The NYCC Fangasm crew on Thursday! // Regina gave us all little Stan Lee Pop! Figures! AHH!

Kristin and I with the beautiful Ashley Eckstein of Star Wars & Her Universe fame! // Drunk selfies with Regina. We were channeling Miley Cyrus? // CHOCOBROS!! // Our AMAZING fan Pattie made the Fangasm ladies these insanely awesome Darth Vader rings. THANK YOU, PATTIE!!
Sexy Professor Layton. One of the best things I've ever seen. // Obsessed with my new limited edition undead Alpaca plush from Tasty Peach Studios! // The new Psylocke statue from Kotobukiya is so beautiful that I don't even know what to do with myself. // Visiting Endor with Kristin.

I NEED THEM ALL. The non colored prototypes for the rest of the Sailor Scouts were there, too. UUUGH.

Champagne toasts and Regina smelling Kristin's hair. That was a bizarre running theme throughout the convention... // Morning selfies as I procrastinated. // Super Best Friends Forever Poison Ivy statue by Lauren Faust! She was an NYCC Exclusive and I'm so happy to have her - she looks amazing by my SBFF exclusives from SDCC. // Not only did I find an Ah! My Goddess statue (I love that anime), it was absolutely stunning. Need.

We got to see our lord and master Stan Lee again for the first time since we filmed Fangasm. He is always so amazing and gracious.

Last day selfies with my Kristin. I miss her already :-( // Bonnie!!! // With Jill and Kristin, two of the most amazing geek ladies I know. // And finally... reading material for the flight home!

Photo dump time! I just returned home from New York Comic-con on Sunday and I am predictably afflicted with convention plague (gives me an excuse to play a LOT of Pokemon X, though!). The trip was amazing - I met so many great people and saw a bunch of old friends. I abused my liver and had a lot of laughs, got some good toys, and fell in love with NYC all over again. It was probably one of the best NYC trips I've had - convention or otherwise.

The real SLR photographs will be up later this week (I have to edit them first!), but for now here's the snaps from my phone over the weekend.

Who went to NYCC? Did you enjoy yourself?

Outfit #36: Stripes and Leopard Print

Skirt: Thrifted // Striped Top: Forever 21 (Thrifted) // Belt: Thrifted // Vest: Yard Sale // Leopard Print Wedges: Make Me Chic // Necklace c/o Jiglys // Hat: H&M // iPhone Case c/o Another Case

Seattle weather is being strange again - freezing at night and warm during the day. The rain is gone again. JUST GIVE ME MY DREARY WEATHER FOREVER, SEATTLE. IS THAT SO HARD.

I have been spending the day plotting how to catch a rabbit. My coworker and dear friend Liz has noticed an obviously scared and lost bunny in her back ally. He's too big, fluffy, and obviously an exotic breed to not be someone's pet that must have escaped. We called animal control, but they won't come catch him since he's not an immediate threat. So we are going to try and put a box over him tonight. Poor bunny!

Outfit #35: The TARDIS Jacket

Dress c/o Stitched and Adorned // Jacket: Thrifted // Shoes: Just Fabulous // Hat: H&M // Sunglasses: Thrifted // Belt: Thrifted

I call this jacket my "TARDIS Jacket", since it's TARDIS blue. It's not really bigger on the inside, though...

I really love the color orange (especially in the fall, obviously) but have a hard time wearing it since my main color palette for clothes is black, grey, more black, pink, and blues.  That's why when Stitched and Adorned asked me to choose a dress, I chose this one! I wanted to challenge myself. I expect you'll see me trying to style it a few different ways in the future, just because I sometimes like pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

I looked in the mirror this morning and realized in pure delight that my real hair is almost down to my shoulders again. I still feel weird without a wig, but I think that once I start figuring out how to style my real hair again it's going to make a re-appearance. I just felt (and still feel) so insecure about it once I chopped it all off on a hot summer day whim... I like having long pretty hair - I have no idea what possessed me to go short. I cried for like a week straight (but not the first day, because Dan told me I would and I was determined to prove him wrong. Ha!)

I'm placing a group order to Wholesale-Dress.net with Meg of Bowties are Cool and a few of my other friends this week - I'm very interested and excited to get it. I've been eyeing this website forever due to its insanely cheap prices, but the shipping has always been outrageous. But since we are ordering so much, we get free shipping - wahoo! I'll make sure to do a haul post once I receive the inevitably massive shipment.

Also I look really skinny in these photos. Hooray for angles?

'Til tomorrow, my lovely unicorns!

Outfit #34: Musings on Azeroth

Dress c/o Lavishville // Shoes: F21 // Big Bow: F21 // Clutch: Kimchi Blue (Thrifted) // Heart Sunglasses: eBay // iPhone Case c/o Sodacase

This outfit is from over the weekend. I decided to get all dressed up and get day drunk on a brass monkey - this actually only lasted an hour or so before I put on warmer clothes. Seattle is chilly now! I love it. Don't mind the sock marks on my legs - due to the cold I have been living in dorky socks around my apartment and I didn't have time to wait to let them go away on my legs, haha!

I spent almost all weekend playing World of Warcraft and watching Peep Show. Dan found a vanilla WoW private server, so we have been grinding like crazy. The XP is like 300% more or something ridiculous so I'm already a level 20 night elf warrior (all of our friends play alliance for some STUPID REASON, but night elves are kind of adorable so I'm not too angry).

It's weird to be playing again since WoW essentially ruined my life back in college - destroying relationships, flunking me out of school, and making me get fat. But I think my life is in a good enough place now that I won't get addicted again... at least not too badly.

I took my little brother to look at an apartment yesterday; I'm really hoping he gets it. I love that little brat but after him staying at the apartment for a month on my closet floor, I'm ready to have that space back. Also the apartment was super adorable and near his new job; but it makes me want to move into a new place, too! Ugh!

Also, make sure to enter my giveaway to win a free pair of Blowfish shoes!

Outfit #33: So Young so High

Dress: Ruby Rox (found at Ross) // Blazer: Thrifted // Platform Shoes: Forever21 // Leopard Hat: Thrifted // Pink Cross: eBay // Teal Purse: Thrifted // Bracelet c/o Two Strange P // Galaxy iPhone Case c/o Take Cover

Happy friday, unicorns! It rained last night and I couldn't be happier. I opened my window at about 3am, burrowed under my blankets and listened to the rain. Finally Seattle is giving us the weather it is infamous for (after about 80 freakin' days of sunshine - wtf!).

Last night was an adventure in pure silliness. Dan, Duncan (my little brother) and I drank wine and watched Peep Show, then we walked to the awesome little beer shop by my house and had some beer with my coworker Nick. I tried the Elysian Pumpkin Ale on tap and it's even MORE amazing that way, oh god. I also visited the grocery store in my Pikachu kigurumi and when we got home from the beer shop I read fanfiction I wrote when I was 13 aloud. I was a weird little anime obsessed teenager - I wrote an entire epic fanfiction with my online best friend at the time (who I met on Neopets!) about how we went to Japan and met the Z fighters. I was obsessed with Trunks; she was obsessed with Picollo. It was actually based off of an ongoing RP we had via MSN for YEARS - I kind of miss it, actually. It got super epic. I was part Saiyan (of course) and she was part alien. Trunks and I got engaged.

It's been so long since I did any sort of text based roleplaying! I used to be REALLY active on a Harry Potter roleplaying message board called Just Another Chocolate Frog Card, but life caught up with me and I stopped having time to do it. I really miss it - it was like some sort of crazy writing exercise. I guess I fulfill that need now with Dungeons and Dragons and LARPing. Did any of you ever text base roleplay?

Oh, and make sure to check out my Giveaway with Blowfish Shoes. FREE SHOES!! You know you love it.

Outfit #32: Body of Years

Shawl: Thrifted // Hat: Thrifted // Dress: Thrifted // Boots: Litas by Jeffrey Campbell // Clutch: Thrifted // Jewelry: eBay // iPhone case c/o Amy Freeman Art

I have very little to report today. It's cold and brisk, I'm cozy, and I drank nearly an entire bottle of wine last night while watching X-files and writing. I wrote an article for iFanboy.com of 10 easy thrift store comic book Halloween costumes, if you're still at a loss for what to be. If you've decided, what are you dressing up as? I'm being Dana Scully and Hipster Pikachu (wearing my Pikachu kigurumi with boots and glasses).

(The title of my post is the name of a song by the incredible band Mother Mother, who you should go listen to immediately.)

Outfit #31: The Clinton Years

Dress: Thrifted // Platform Boots: Thrifted // Hoodie: Thrifted // Vest: Yard Sale // Pink Cross: eBay // Pink Skeleton Pony Ring: DeaStar (Purchased at AkiCon 2011) // iPhone Case c/o Take Cover

The fact that the 90s are coming back in full force has me more delighted than I should probably admit. I've been looking at photos of Clarissa Explains it All and My So Called Life for inspiration. Just please: no giant shoulder pads in ill fitting blazers!! If that comes back to trend I may have to run amuck with a razor blade, chopping up people's shoulders whilst laughing maniacally. In fact, I take it upon myself to liberate the shoulder pads from any vintage dresses I try on at thrift stores. YOU'RE WELCOME, WORLD OF FASHION. That should be my superpower: vanquishing shoulder pads.

Anyway, I had an aneurism when I found these boots. Ironically, they came into my possession at Good Will whilst Daniel and I were there searching for our Mulder and Scully Halloween costumes (flawless victory, by the way. I got the most terrible camel colored pantsuit). These Spice Girl esque monstrositys were innocently awaiting me for 8 dollars, and I sprung upon them like a starved lioness upon a plump gazelle. Then I ran across the store in them and chortled while I stuck my feet in Daniel's line of vision and he pretended to be as excited as I was (good boy).

I'm all flippy the birdy because I feel like I look like a don't give a fuck 90s bitch in this outfit. (I'm actually very friendly, I promise!). Ugh, gag me with a spoon.

The only issue I have with this outfit is that I wish I had darker lips, but I couldn't find my Kat Von D in Homegirl until AFTER I took the photos. DJHSDUHDUH. First world problems.

Also, what the hell is going on with my nails. They are peeling off in layers (like the actual nail!), which means nail polish comes off in about half an hour. How do I fix this?! Are my cuticles unhealthy?! WHAT IS GOING ON?! HELP ME, UNICORNS!
