These are the peeks into my life during my time at New York Comic-con 2013 last week. It was full of booze, friends, love, and singing souls. I cannot express how much I needed this weekend - to explore New York City, to meet amazing people who filled my heart with hopefulness, to surround myself with all that I love and forget the negativity and loneliness that at times pervades my life. I don't really know what I would do without my geeky family.

NYCC 2013: Cosplay
This year at New York Comic-con I took a surprisingly lack of cosplay pics. For a girl who generally amasses nearly 500 photographs a convention, my SD card was shockingly sparse by the end of this weekend. However, there's some reasons for that.
- The red carpet that Reed Pop just LOVES TO USE makes everything look terrible. TERRIBLE, I TELLS YA.
- I was walking around with 3 of the other Fangasm cast. We were being stopped for photos constantly. It was hard to take photographs of my own!
However, I did the best I could and here are the snaps of some of my favorite cosplay that I saw. There were a few I REALLY wanted to photograph (like the Breaking Bad cosplay!!), but they were surrounded by too many people or I didn't have time to stop.
Tomorrow I'll be posting my snapshots from my nightlife and NYC adventures.
What about you guys? What was your favorite NYCC cosplay you saw, in person or online?

We got to see our lord and master Stan Lee again for the first time since we filmed Fangasm. He is always so amazing and gracious. |

Last day selfies with my Kristin. I miss her already :-( // Bonnie!!! // With Jill and Kristin, two of the most amazing geek ladies I know. // And finally... reading material for the flight home! |
Photo dump time! I just returned home from New York Comic-con on Sunday and I am predictably afflicted with convention plague (gives me an excuse to play a LOT of Pokemon X, though!). The trip was amazing - I met so many great people and saw a bunch of old friends. I abused my liver and had a lot of laughs, got some good toys, and fell in love with NYC all over again. It was probably one of the best NYC trips I've had - convention or otherwise.
The real SLR photographs will be up later this week (I have to edit them first!), but for now here's the snaps from my phone over the weekend.
Who went to NYCC? Did you enjoy yourself?

Review: GelaSkins for Nintendo 3DS and Xbox 360
This is one of the reviews I'm most excited about doing!! As a total gamer and tech fiend who also loves cute things, it always bothers me when my devices are looking boring and lackluster. I recently got a Nintendo 3DS (my friend code is 1177-7589-8089 if anyone wants to play with me!) and it has been fastened to my side since the moment I tore it from its packaging. But it was just so... so... boring!
So I reached out to GelaSkins, a website I have been eyeing for quite some time due to their highly customizable skins for devices of literally EVERY kind (you can even put in the dimensions of your laptop and get a skin made for it!) They let me design two skins for review: one for my Nintendo 3DS and one for my Xbox.
I had a BLAST making the skins. Their creator is very easy to use. I used stock images of galaxies that had been run through pastel overlays and the gif art of one of my favorite artists, MissJediFlip.
The result was simply delightful, just as bright and kawaii as the inside of my brain. I received the skins yesterday and wasted no time sticking them on my devices - it was very easy and they have cut outs in all the PERFECT places.
I seriously recommend GelaSkins for all of your future device cute-ifying needs!

Convention Style: PAX Prime 2013 [Saturday]
Dress: Don't remember! >.< (Similar) // Denim Vest c/o Choies (Similar) // Flower Headband: Bunny Farm (Similar) // Boots: Thrifted (Similar) // Pokemon Badges: RedditGifts Exchange // Other badges: Cons/anime stores in LA // Death Note Necklace: eBay (Buy here) // Unicorn Necklace (Similar) // Animal Ear Ring: eBay (Similar) // CTRL Ring: Gift from my friend Tara
Welcome to a new "thing" I'll be adding to the Geeky Peacock - documenting my outfits on a daily basis at cons! I have a real challenge dressing for conventions because I LIVE in super huge heels (not good for walking around cons), and styling around comfortable shoes is difficult for me. However, I always try to look as fashionable as possible if I'm out of cosplay, and I decided I really need to start documenting this!
Originally I intended to begin this feature during SDCC, but I was so incredibly busy having a blast the entire time that I never took a moment to throw my camera at someone and ask them to snap some pictures. The same thing happened here - I went to PAX Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but only got outfit pics Saturday. However, I have NYCC next week and I'm going to make my dearest Kristin photograph my outfits every day! MUAHA!
It's been awhile since I've blogged, hasn't it? I've been incredibly busy dealing with the insanity (the AWESOME insanity!) that has happened since Fangasm aired last week!! I am having SUCH a blast reading everyone's responses to it. Did you guys watch it? What did you think? And what do YOU wear at conventions?
